SPECIAL PROGRAMS
At Beloit, we believe treatment doesn’t just involve therapy, counseling or education. It’s also about helping kids and teens learn how to build better relationships, live in community, explore new activities and opportunities and learn to have fun while being safe.

Recreation
Kids at Beloit have fun and educational opportunities throughout the year, such as participating in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Examples of past summer activities include field trips to the Science Center, Ledges State Park, Ada Hayden Park, the bowling alley, parades, mini golf, the Blank Park Zoo, the local swimming pool or Living History Farms.

Arts and crafts are a regular activity all year along with special holiday parties and celebrations. Beloit also has an on-campus playground and basketball court for the children to enjoy.

Spiritual Life
Hope changes lives. That’s why we have a spiritual life program, funded through our donor support, that offers hope and love to kids who have had tough experiences. We invite everyone to participate in these activities, but participation is voluntary and not required.

Kids can sing in a choir, attend worship on-campus or in the Ames area community and talk to our spiritual life leader. Children may also have the opportunity to attend a local horse therapy and Bible camp called Ride With the King.

Summer Enrichment
A summer at Beloit might include activities like water games, arts and crafts, campfires, hiking, educational field trips to the zoo, science center, historical farmsteads, a recreation program and gardening. Youth also have a chance to attend a week-long day camp near Ames where they enjoy horseback riding, , swimming, ropes courses, recreation and games in a holistic atmosphere.

Community Activities
Some youth participate regularly in the “Ride with the King” program, a horse therapy program held at a local stable.  There is also the ability for our youth to participate in local parades, community enhancement projects, Blue Sky Day, campus choir and join in activities with other youth in the community.

Mentor Program
The Beloit mentor program is a popular activity on campus. Kids who want a mentor are matched with a local community volunteer who will serve as a big brother or sister to the youth. Our mentors receive support and training. Having a mentor gives our Beloit residents a chance to practice relationship-building skills and to enjoy fun, new activities on campus or out in the community. It also inspires confidence as mentors help our youth develop their gifts and strengths.
