Lutheran Services in Iowa serves as the Iowa affiliate of Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR), a collaborative ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).

LSI partners with families, individuals and congregations in communities preparing and responding to disasters. LSI provides:

  • Case advocacy (long-term case management)
  • Unmet needs funding
  • Emotional and spiritual care (pastoral)
  • Preparedness services (assistance in planning for a disaster)

Following a major domestic disaster, LSI and LDR seek to minister to the long-term unmet needs of affected community members, regardless of faith or creed. LSI responds to disasters throughout Iowa and assists communities and community members in rebuilding lives.
