Emergency pantry assists families

Davenport, Iowa—Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) recently received a $2,500 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Quad Cities to fund LSI’s emergency pantry in Scott County.

The emergency pantry helps provide basic need supplies for families served by LSI.

“Having access to diapers, wipes and baby products is essential for basic baby care,” said Lynne Meeske, LSI service coordinator. “Many families who we serve are often out of work during late pregnancy and following the birth of their child. We’re fortunate that we can address a few of their needs and make their journey easier.”

LSI’s early childhood services include in-home visitation programs that provide support, parenting education, links to community resources and more to help strengthen families and prevent child abuse.

The program also receives funding from Scott County Kids Early Childhood and the Iowa Department of Public Health.
