Bremwood Residential Treatment Center |
Bremwood has a rich history of serving Iowa children and teens. As one of the oldest children’s homes west of the Mississippi, Bremwood opened in 1864 as a home for children orphaned by the Civil War. In 1900, Bremwood moved to Waverly where it still sits on its original site. Then in 1953, Bremwood became the first psychiatric residential treatment center in Iowa for emotionally troubled children.
Today Bremwood is located at 106 16th Street SW in Waverly, Iowa. Situated on a friendly campus setting with new facilities such as the Lied Education Building and the Hansen Spiritual Life Center, Bremwood serves youth ages 12 to 18. Bremwood is certified by the Council on Accreditation (COA).

Parents:
It’s never easy being a parent. You want good things for your family. You want good things for your children. But sometimes children and teenagers need more care than their parents can give them.
Sending a child to residential treatment can be strange and stressful. A stay at Bremwood likely isn’t what you imagined for your son or daughter’s teenage years.
We know it’s hard, but by working together with families, we believe we can help teens overcome emotional or behavioral problems and move on to enjoy a safe, happy and successful life.
All those good things you want for your children and your family? We want those too.
Thank you for your courage and trust as LSI works to make a difference in the lives of Iowa teens.
