LSI promotes Lauren Hansen to director of services for people with disabilities

Cheryl Plank, vice president of programs and services for Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI), recently appointed Lauren Hansen as director of services for people with disabilities. As one of Iowa’s largest human service agencies, LSI provides services statewide for Iowans with disabilities including respite care, supported community living in an hourly or daily setting and a weekend respite care program.

“I’m thrilled to continue LSI’s tradition of providing quality care and support to Iowans,” said Hansen. “LSI’s programs are critical in supporting Iowans with disabilities as they achieve goals of independence, while also helping them become more integrated into their communities.”

In December of 2009, LSI’s services for people with disabilities partnered with over 900 Iowans across the state. LSI also helped provide a break for caregivers of people with disabilities by providing 273,638 hours of respite in 2009.

Hansen brings an extensive background in social work, disability services and continuous quality improvement to her new leadership role. She previously served as LSI’s statewide manager for hourly supported community living services and respite services.

Hansen earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Plymouth State University. She has a master’s degree in social work from California State University and is a licensed social worker.
